Irrigator
Summary:
Maintain the proper operation of the landscape sprinkler systems, controllers and valves to
ensure integrity and proper watering of the Association’s common landscape areas.
Description of Duties:
Maintain and repair all facets of the irrigation systems including mainline and lateral
pipes, overhead spray heads and drip systems
Insure that the assigned area is watering and has adequate moisture
Use hand moisture probes to help determine water and moisture is adequate
Water dry areas and determine the cause and make appropriate repairs
Report any irrigation that is not working or is not efficiently watering
Report any irregularities in plant life quality to the Director of Landscape
Repair damaged or malfunctioning related wires and controllers, valves, pumps, gate
valves, drains and drainage system, overhead spray and drip systems
Install new systems as directed by Supervisor or Director
Insure that all new plantings receive adequate water until established
Meet with Director on clock programming. It is the responsibility of the Irrigator to
insure the watering is adequate even though the Director does the programming
Use two way radios
Work with spray tech to insure feeders are in working order
Troubleshoot wiring and all irrigation systems
Virtually asses assigned areas for dry spots or trouble areas, repair, water and report as
needed
Report all safety hazards to Landscape Supervisor or the Director of Landscape
Ensure that any holes that are dug are safely covered or coned off and that all irrigation
heads and valve boxes are set at the appropriate grades to avoid any trip hazards
Work with effluent water
Additional duties as assigned by the Landscape Supervisor or the Director of
Landscape.

Two Way radios
Wire finder and testers
Various hand and power tools
Cart / vehicle
Tractor and backhoe
Glues, primers and irrigation parts
Essential knowledge, skills and abilities required by the position:
Apply safe work practices, follow all safety and OSHA procedures
Able to work seasonal weekends and on call schedule
Knowledge of safety devices and personal protection equipment
Maintain a valid Nevada driver license at all times to drive any company vehicles. This
includes but not limited to all types of carts, tractors, mowers, trucks and any rented
equipment.
Knowledge of methods, tools and material used in irrigation or plumbing
Operate machinery, motorized equipment and vehicles
Interpersonal skills for working with others and communicate with Supervisor and
residents
Organization, prioritization, problem solving
Good judgment and decision making
6 months experience in golf course, landscape or general plumbing
Good communication skills
Work independently
Able to follow written and oral instructions
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Physical demands: Walking, sitting, standing, bending, kneeling or squatting for prolonged
periods. Lifting up to 60 pounds. Sufficient strength and stamina to ensure a productive
work environment.
Work Environment: Risks and discomforts typical of an outside work environment with
exposure to hot and cold temperatures, rain, wet / muddy conditions, moving parts on
machinery and equipment, dust, effluent water, fertilizers, pesticides and other hazardous
materials used in landscape maintenance. Exposure to moderate to high noise levels Requires
performing job functions complying with all SCSCAI policies and applying all safety policies
and procedures.
